Join code, QR code and showing it on a projector

In the “Invite students to the class” box, you turn joining by code on or off, copy the code or link, and show a QR code for the whole class to scan. Changing the code makes the old code and QR stop working; students already in the class aren't affected.

Steps

  1. On the class page, click “Invite students / QR”.
  2. Check the status line: “Joining by code is open” means students can join on their own. To pause it, click “Disable joining”; to open it again, click “Enable joining”.
  3. Under “Class join code”, click “Copy code” and send the code to your students.
  4. Under “Direct join link”, click “Copy link” to send the link by message or email.
  5. In class: click “Show on projector” to enlarge the QR code; students scan it with their phone camera.
  6. If the code has leaked: click “Change code” → “Yes, change code”. The old code and QR stop working immediately.

Options and limits

When joining by code is off
New students can't join with the code, link or QR code. Students already in the class stay. The class page shows “Join code: Off”.
Inviting from a list
Invitations sent to students who already have an account (see the Import student list guide) also need joining by code to be on for the class.
